Improving our services

Improving our services

01/07/2015 12:00 pm

We are currently looking at ways to improve our Teach Outback services to our families, and one option we came up with is to provide families with access to educational online programs, and printed materials.  Some of the distance education schools already offer some of these programs, but some do not, and we hope to be able to provide our families with a very affordable service.

Two of the programs that we are primarily focusing on include Reading Eggs (RRP $79.95 p/yr per student), and Origo's Sptepping Stones program (RRP $169 p/yr per family), which is a core mathematics program.  Both programs are completely online, with the option to print some materials, and, very importantly, are Australian!

More information about ABC Reading Eggs can be found here: http://readingeggs.com.au/

More information about Origo's Stepping Stones can be found here:  http://www.origoeducation.com/ss-brochure/

We'd love to have family feedback, so if you can spare a minute or two, please complete our survey to let us know what services and resources you'd be interested in.

Distance Education Rookie - Shontae Moran

Distance education. It's something of an elephant in the room, (albeit tetsie fly sized in the beginning), when you realise that you have fallen a little too hard for a man who lives the other side of whoop whoop.

And like the threat of a hangover at the start of a great night out you charge on with a full head of gidyea coal steam without really giving it the full precognition it deserves!  Eventually (once the little ringers have arrived to boost the numbers at the party), one has to acknowledge that yes, we will be teaching the kids from home. Note you are still saying 'we' ;-)

Suddenly the moment of truth hits and you're staring down the barrel of a considerable number of years devoted to educating your own children and you look at the schoolroom that has been decommissioned for nearly 20 years and you think 'holy crap!!!!'

That's the position that I found myself in about 18 months ago before our daughter started kindy and that's when our journey into Distance Ed really started.

An Experience Like No Other - Anna Would

Snow at Easter was the final straw in a particularly long, cold, dark, term that convinced me that I was ready for a change of scenery and a new challenge. Having trained in secondary education and gone straight in a job in a large school on the outskirts of Birmingham I felt that after 3 years of hard work to get my qualifications and experience it was time for something new.  I flew out to Australia with the intention of it being a three month trip before going on to Central America. Initially I travelled the Queensland coast and worked for 5 weeks in Sydney, just doing temporary work, and it only took me about this amount of time to realise that I needed longer in the country.

I continued to travel Australia before moving on to New Zealand, Fiji and America, all the while formulating a plan of how I would return and what I would do there.

We are two mothers, Jenny and Veronica, who run two websites with education resources. We create much of our own clipart and everything on the site we have created from scratch. Veronica is a qualified teacher and Jenny is an artist.

Please take a look around the sites listed below, download some of the free resources on the front pages and subscribe if it is something you could use.

The cost is $25/year for 1000s of pages and includes any new resources we upload. We upload new resources EVERY week.

  www.teachezy.com
